MASONRY MATERIAL

The behavior of a two meters high old masonry brick wall has been investigated. Two numerical simulations are performed: a compression test and a compression-shear test. We use a constitutive law with transverse isotropic elasticity, compression plasticity, tension nonlocal visco-plasticity, Mazars damage model and in order to reproduce the behavior of the mortar joints a directional Mohr-Coulomb model with tension plasticity. To follow the development of the localization zone a locally refined mesh depending on the current value of the variable damage is applied. The input files for these calculations are provided in your distribution.
